Since my last post back in June, Marlay, like all babies her age, has grown up a ton. She has continued her march towards being the baby who gives out the most free smiles and hasn't lost her cherubic look as of yet. We continue to try and document her ealry life with pics and videos. I don't even recognize the dark haired little baby in her early pictures. It is amazing how quickly the time is passing with her in our lives.
Over the course of the summer much has changed. She was baptized, so we took care of that whole original sin thing. She now likes to be on her tummy, which is a change from her early days of forced tummy time. She still can't roll back over, so we get her out of the crib every morning while she is in mid push up, her patience waning. She can sit now...for about fifteen seconds, then she falls over. She doesn't seem to mind. Her hair continues to grow, despite Marlay's best attempts to pull it out. Her new favorite toy is her bouncy seat (no idea why we call it that since it hardly bounces and isn't a seat), which is helping her get stronger in the legs, back and tummy.
Over this Labor Day weekend she hit two more mini-milestones. She took her first trip and made her way off to daycare.
First the trip. Despite her father's belief that she would be a nightmare in the car. With only two stops along the way, she made the 2.5 hour trek to Arlington VA with nary a cry from the backseat. She was a gem. When we landed at our friends house Marlay quickly doled out some smiles and then got ready for the pool. It did not take her long to adjust to being in the water. Her arms were in a near contstant state of water splashing, this kid was clearly a waterbaby (just like her mom). She wasn't quite the trooper on the way home, but all in all a pretty successful trip and definitely worth it if for no other reason that to get her into a pool before the fall encroaches.
This morning was the more important event in our lives. After having Marlay at home with me all summer, Jenny took her to SEI daycare this morning. While I think Mar was thrilled to be going somewhere, Dad and Mom definitely welled up at the thought of leaving her...even if Mom was going to be just across campus. While I firmly beleive this is the best thing for her at this age, the amount of time I will get to see her has just plummeted substantioally. Not quite sure how I will adjust. As I write this it is 9AM, she left an hour and half ago and I am rooting for the clock to start moving faster.
..waiting to hear another one of Mar-Mar's songs (she is singing in the picture at the beginning of this post)
